Maddox Elementary Welcomes New Faculty Members

The faculty and staff of Maddox Elementary would like to welcome some new faces to our school this year!  We are blessed to have them as new members of our family!

Deneiece Kellams is a new Kindergarten teacher and taught at Wayne County.  Leah King is our new 5th grade Math and Science teacher.  She tutored at North Jones Elementary School last year.  Paula McGowin, who previously taught at Bay Springs Elementary School, is our new 5th grade Reading/Language Arts teacher. Mrs. McGowin will also be teaching Social Studies.  Katelyn Bryant comes to us from Laurel Middle School. She is our new 4th grade Science/Social Studies teacher.  Sharon Hardy joins us from Laurel High School as our new K-2 Special Education teacher. Tawanda Singleton is coming from Oak Park Elementary and will be our new Speech Pathologist.  Amber Flynt, a recent University of Southern Mississippi graduate, did part of her student teaching here at Maddox.  She is our new 3rd grade Math teacher.

We are pleased to have a few new assistants with us this year, as well.  Vonnie Heidelberg is joining us as a Kindergarten assistant.  Crystal Tucker is our new ESL (English as a Second Language) assistant.  Cindy Cooley, while not new to our family, is joining us full time this year as a 3rd grade assistant.  Sharon White, one of our fantastic assistants that has been with us for a while, has moved to our Computer Lab.

We are also thankful for Sarah Heidelberg who will be the long term while a teacher is out on maternity leave. The theme for the school year is "No Excuses, Just Excellence!" We are confident that the 2016-2017 school year will be outstanding!
